Heated Stadium Seat
You can expect the cost of flights to Barcelona to fluctuate depending on the season and the airline you book with. If you fly out of season, you can expect to pay a lot less than if you travel in the summer months.
The peak time to visit Barcelona is between May and August, when the weather is at its warmest. The locals often flock to the beach during August, so the city tends be much quieter than you'd think at this time.
However, Barcelona is such a popular place with tourists that even the off peak season can be quite busy, although if you aren't phased by the cooler temperatures then it is a good time to save some money on your flights.
You can book your break to the capital of Catalonia at your local travel agent, online or over the phone with a flight specialist, or check out one of the price comparison sites to see what deals are out there.
The low budget airlines often offer the cheapest flights, flying from all the major UK airports, but stay wary of hidden costs that could bump the price up substantially. It is also worth checking with the larger airlines before you book, as their flight prices can also be competitive, although this can change according to when you travel.
Two main airports, El Prat de Llobregat International airport and Girona, serve Barcelona. El Prat is the second largest airport in Spain, and the biggest on the coast of the Mediterranean. It is situated about 30 minutes away from the city centre and you can get there by train, bus or taxi.
Although Barcelona flights to Girona airport are much cheaper, it is around one and a half hours away from the centre of the city, so it will take you much longer to get there.
It will cost approximately three euros to get a direct train from El Prat to Sants station, the main stop in Barcelona. You can also find special tourist travel deals, for example the Barcelona card, which gives free travel on public transport as well as discounts for specific attractions and a complimentary guidebook.
As well as being the second largest city in Spain, Barcelona is famous for its rich history and culture, and is also known for its football and party atmosphere, boasting the magnificent Neu Camp stadium that holds daily tours for the discerning sports fan.
There are plenty of ways to get around the city. The metro runs frequent services throughout the day and is very easy to navigate. You can also take the bus, hail a taxi, take the cable car or go on foot.
One of the most fun ways to see the sights is by moped, a form of transport favoured by many of the locals.
Barcelona possesses a wealth of attractions. The Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria is a famous food market and a must for any food lover. You could take a stroll down the famous Las Ramblas, where you can enjoy a pitcher of Spanish beer at one of the cafes and taste some of the delicious local tapas on offer.
The city is steeped in wondrous architecture and splendid works of art. Both Picasso and Gaudi hailed from Barcelona and their artistic influences can be seen all over the place. The awe-inspiring Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell are must-sees for any visitor, as well as the famous gothic quarter, which houses some highly weird but wonderful buildings.
If you fancy a visit to the beach for a dip in the sea, the nearest one to the centre is Barceloneta, but do be warned that it can get very busy, particularly in the height of summer.
Whatever you decide to do during your stay, do be sure to book your Barcelona flights early to get the best possible deal available.
Barcelona flights are available from numerous airports. Enjoy a wonderful holiday in Spain when you book online.

How funny and green would this be?
What if in stadiums like i dunno ... football basketball hockey baseball soccer etc ... ALL of the seats had Stirling Engines underneath them? Peoples sweaty asses would provide a heat source and whatever the outside/inside air temperature was would be the cold source. All of this hooked up to individual three phase generators that fueled the stadium and maybe even sent back to the grid? Hmm? If the negative energy bill was enough, then tickets could be free ![]()
Human power >.>
I don't get it.
not funny
